4 Digital Transformation Trends of 2018
watch video

Hi! My name is Tim and I’m an IT professional that works closely with companies on their digital transformation efforts. I’ve seen many digital transformation trends over the last few years but there are four that have stuck out in 2018.These digital transformation trends include:

1) Digital Transformation Has the Most Impact on Business

When it comes to digital transformation, cloud platforms, IoT, and mobility are the most impactful allowing IT and security leaders to maximize their value by defining a strategic framework into which they are plugged. Digital transformation allows IT professionals to increase business agility, operational efficiencies, customer insights, and market share, which are all important goals for businesses undergoing a digital transformation.

2) The Biggest Challenge to Digital Transformation Efforts Is Security

As an IT professional, I understand that security is a huge issue for businesses and many find security a huge issue when it comes to their digital transformation efforts. The rise of polymorphic attacks, threats that constantly morph or change to avoid detection and the rise of DevOps are allowing vulnerabilities to slip in along with the faster pace of development. When there is a lack of full visibility for the security team, businesses are likely to experience security issues with their digital transformation efforts so it is essential to incorporate technology with security in mind.

3) The Typical Organization Has Seen Attacks Resulting in Data Loss, Outages or Compliance Events in the past Two Years

As more companies undergo a digital transformation, many are reporting upwards of 20 or more breaches in the last two years alone. Many of these breaches resulted in outages, data loss or compliance events, including ransomware. You can easily avoid these intrusions by sharing threat intelligence across your entire organization allowing employees to arm themselves with security knowledge.

4) Organizations Have Automated Only a Portion of Their Security Practices and Are Further Behind on Other Security Best Practices

Since automation means different things to different organizations, not all have automated security practices with more than half of these processes remaining manual at many organizations. True automation isn’t possible without integration across the entire attack surface and every security element so it is essential that security best practices be taken seriously when you begin your digital transformation efforts.

Now that you have a better understanding of what you need to focus on when you begin your digital transformation efforts, you’re ready to ensure that your digital transformation goes smoothly and effectively.
