A server is the main computer or program which provides a service or memory resource to different workloads. Organizations require servers when they set-up new data centers or expand or update existing ones, spin-up development projects, or open satellite offices.

Multiple types of servers discussed are: Rack servers, Blade servers, Mainframe servers, and Hyper-converged infrastructure. The type of server used depends upon the requirements of the organization, the features of which are discussed in this white paper. The Processor, memory, storage, connectivity, hot swapping, manageability, redundancy, and security play a major role in determining the type of server suitable for the organization’s needs.
